In the world of construction, it’s always important to put safety first. At Starrco, we’re committed to ensuring our builders are safe every day. While the design and assembly of a modular office does not present the same risks as a conventional build does, it’s vital that you take precautions.

If you ever decide to construct a portable building, here are a few safety tips that you need to follow.

#1 Wear Proper Gear:  One of the keys to staying safe on the job site is dressing appropriately. It’s important that you always wear long sleeve shirts, pants and rubber soled shoes. Also, be sure to wear safety accessories such as gloves, hard hats and safety glasses.

#2 Train Before You Operate: If you’re working on a large-scale project and the heavy machinery is needed, it’s extremely important that only certified technicians operate these machines. For example, sometimes a forklift will need to lift materials weighing more than a thousand pounds. If you’re not familiar with how one operates, you could spill the load, thus damaging your material.

#3 Take Breaks:  We all want to perform for our employer, but when your job involves physical labor, it’s important to take breaks. If temperatures are high, you should try to take at least four short breaks (not including lunch) to replenish your body with water.

In summary, while some job site related accidents are unavoidable, if everyone would take the proper precautions we could make the modular construction world a safer place.
